CLOGSAG: Civil Servants Set to Down Tools as They Announces Nationwide Strike

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has announced its intention to embark on a nationwide strike, commencing on February 20, 2025. The industrial action is in protest against the government's decision to extend the tenure of Samuel Adom Botchway as Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry.
According to CLOGSAG, the extension of Botchway's tenure is in contravention of the Civil Service Law, which stipulates that public servants must retire at the age of 60. The association has argued that the government's actions undermine the rule of law and set a bad precedent for the civil service.
CLOGSAG has urged its members to stay away from work until the government addresses their concerns and reverses its decision on Botchway's tenure. The strike is expected to disrupt public services across the country, with civil servants playing a crucial role in the administration of government services.
