Wontumi TV Apologises Over False Helicopter Crash Claims

Wontumi TV has issued a public apology to the general public over comments made by one of its presenters, which alleged presidential involvement in the recent tragic military helicopter crash.

In a statement, management described the remarks as “inappropriate, unfounded, and contrary” to the station’s standards of professionalism, accuracy, and fairness. They stressed that the comments, aired on Saturday, 9th August 2025, did not reflect the views, policies, or editorial position of Wontumi TV.

The broadcaster confirmed that disciplinary action is being taken against the presenter, and reinforced editorial guidelines to ensure that all on-air personalities speak only from verified facts and credible records.

“We deeply regret the distress and reputational harm this may have caused to the President, the NDC, and the affected families,” the statement read. Wontumi TV extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the crash and called for unity and sensitivity in discussing matters of national grief.
