Lawyer Bernard Bediako Baidoo Wins NDC Parliamentary Primary in Akwatia

JHNews || Akwatia, Eastern Region — Lawyer Bernard Bediako Baidoo, the current constituency secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has emerged winner of the party’s parliamentary primary for the Akwatia Constituency.

Baidoo secured 380 votes out of 980 valid ballots cast, defeating two contenders — his own client and former MP for Akwatia, Henry Boakye Yiadom (popularly known as Okoyo), and Rasmus Koneh Ali (also known as Asanka Poyooyo).

The results were as follows:

  • Bernard Bediako Baidoo — 380 votes
  • Rasmus Koneh Ali — 366 votes
  • Henry Boakye Yiadom — 226 votes

The Eastern Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, John Appiah Baffoe, officially declared Baidoo the winner after the final count.

Baidoo will represent the NDC in the upcoming by-election on September 2, 2025, where he will face Solomon Asumadu, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate.
