A press conference was held today by the Ashanti Regional Caucus of Parliament to address the violent disruption of the Council of State elections at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council yesterday. The caucus strongly condemned the attack, which was allegedly led by Ofori Boadu, also known as Zuba, a rumored nominee for Kumasi Mayor.

According to eyewitnesses, Zuba and his accomplices stormed the counting center, snatching the ballot box and disrupting the electoral process. This incident occurred when Nana Nkansah Boadu was leading with 49 out of 86 votes.

The caucus has made four urgent demands to restore justice and order:

- Immediate Arrest and Prosecution of Perpetrators: The caucus demands that Zuba and his accomplices be arrested and prosecuted immediately.
- Swift Resumption of Electoral Process: The Electoral Commission must ensure a transparent and fair conclusion to the election.
- Rejection of Zuba's Appointment: The caucus urges the President and relevant authorities to reject any appointment of Zuba in the Ashanti Region.
- Security Reinforcement: Law enforcement agencies must tighten security around electoral processes in the Ashanti Region.

The caucus emphasized that the Ashanti Region will not tolerate intimidation and violence in democratic processes. They called on all Ghanaians, civil society organizations, and the media to speak out against this assault on democracy and demand accountability from the authorities .
