Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, and the Ghana Supporters Union (GSU) gave the Black Queens a rousing welcome at the Kotoka International Airport upon their return from Morocco, where they secured a bronze medal at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The team's arrival turned into a festive celebration, with the Queens dancing joyfully, visibly elated after their remarkable journey through one of the tournament's toughest campaigns. The GFA President, Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams, and other dignitaries were present to receive the team.

The Black Queens' Impressive WAFCON Campaign

Group Stage: The team lost 2-0 to South Africa, drew 1-1 with Mali, and bounced back with a 4-1 win over Tanzania to qualify for the quarterfinals.
Quarterfinals: Ghana played out a goalless draw against Algeria but won 4-2 on penalties thanks to goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan's heroics.
Semifinals: The Black Queens took the lead against hosts Morocco but lost in another shootout after a 1-1 draw.
Third-Place Match: Ghana drew 1-1 with South Africa and won 4-3 on penalties to claim bronze.

The Black Queens' bronze medal finish marks Ghana's fourth WAFCON podium finish and their best since 2016. Key players included Cynthia Konlan, Stella Nyamekye, and Alice Kusi. The team's solid defense, counterattacks, and set-piece strength were notable, although they struggled with finishing.
