After enduring sustained pressure from a determined Panamanian side for much of the match, Ghana snatched all three points in the 95th minute when Brandon Thomas-Asante launched a swift counterattack and set up Yirenkyi, who calmly slotted home to send Ghanaian supporters into wild celebrations. The goal was Yirenkyi’s first competitive international goal for the Black Stars.

Panama enjoyed the better of the first half and created several dangerous opportunities, forcing goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi into a number of important saves before he was forced off at halftime following a collision. The Central Americans also appealed for a penalty during the second half, but the referee waved play on.

Despite struggling to maintain possession and create clear chances for large parts of the match, Ghana showed resilience and improved after the break. Coach Carlos Queiroz made tactical adjustments that helped the Black Stars grow into the game before delivering the decisive blow in injury time.

The victory places Ghana level on three points with England at the top of Group L after England defeated Croatia 4-2 in the other group match. Ghana’s next challenge will be a highly anticipated clash against England on June 23, while Panama will take on Croatia.
