WAEC Releases 2025 WASSCE Results;About 82% Fail In The Core Subjects
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of the provisional results for candidates who sat for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, Ghana-only version. The results show that about 82% of the candidates failed in at least one of the core subjects.
In a statement issued in Accra on Saturday, November 29, WAEC said login credentials have been made available to Heads of Schools to enable them to access the results of their candidates. Individual candidates can also view their results on the Council’s official website, www.waecgh.org.
WAEC cautioned the public to be wary of fraudsters who claim they can alter or upgrade results for a fee. The Council stressed that its results are securely stored and can be authenticated through its official verification system, warning that any attempt to engage with such scammers will only lead to financial loss.
This year, a total of 461,736 candidates from 1,021 schools registered for the examination, consisting of 207,415 males and 254,321 females. The 2025 candidature represents a marginal increase of 0.24% over the 460,611 candidates recorded in 2024. WAEC also confirmed that 5,821 candidates, representing 1.26%, were absent during the examination period.
The Council noted that subject-specific performance trends, particularly for the four core subjects, will be released in a separate update.
WAEC encouraged candidates to check their results promptly and to rely solely on its official platforms to avoid misinformation and ensure the authenticity of their results.
