Nana Aba Anamoah Calls for Nana Ama McBrown to Be Granted Diplomatic Passport .
JHNews || Nana Aba Anamoah has suggested that Nana Ama McBrown should be granted a diplomatic passport, citing her cultural influence and strong following in Ghanaian communities abroad. While some agreed and called for recognition of local language ambassadors like McBrown and Wiyaala, critics argued McBrown’s impact is largely domestic, insisting that globally recognized figures such as Wode Maya, Fuse ODG, and Wiyaala are more deserving.

Ghanaian broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah has argued that actress and television host Nana Ama McBrown deserves inclusion among public figures who have been issued diplomatic passports by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The government has recently been commended for extending diplomatic passports to selected celebrities who project Ghana positively on the global stage. In a viral video, Nana Aba said McBrown’s contribution to Ghanaian media and culture makes her a deserving candidate.
“My pick would have been Nana Ama McBrown easily because she wields a certain power in the diaspora. For Ghanaians abroad, she is loved across the world in the Ghanaian communities, and you can not underestimate her impact,” Nana Aba stated. She further stressed the importance of recognizing celebrities who promote local languages, adding that representation from figures like McBrown and singer Wiyaala would prevent the initiative from appearing “too elitist.”
Her remarks have sparked debate online. Some social media users supported her stance, pointing out that Wiyaala’s cultural promotion abroad has long been overlooked. Others disagreed, arguing that McBrown’s influence is largely domestic and that internationally recognized figures such as Wode Maya, Chef Abbys, Fuse ODG, and Wiyaala are more deserving.
One user wrote: “Masa, she doesn’t travel a lot compared to those who deserve it. Nana Ama is a legend but not on the international market. Someone like Wode Maya sells Ghana more than Nana Ama.” Another comment alleged that McBrown faces travel restrictions and is popular mainly within Ghana.
