ECONOMY COMMITTEE ASSURES FAIR REVIEW AS PARLIAMENT STRENGTHENS OVERSIGHT
The Chairman of Parliament's Committee on Economy and Development and Member of Parliament for Amenfi West, Hon. Eric Afful, has assured Ghanaians that the Committee's review of the 2025 Annual Progress Report (APR) will be conducted in a fair, objective, transparent, and constructive manner to improve governance and public sector performance.
Speaking at the launch of the 2025 Annual Progress Report prepared by the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), Hon. Afful said the review process is designed not only to assess institutional performance but also to encourage innovation and support agencies facing implementation challenges.
He explained that institutions that have demonstrated innovation, efficiency, and excellence in implementing government programmes will be given the opportunity to showcase their achievements. At the same time, institutions experiencing implementation difficulties will be engaged constructively to identify practical solutions and recommend appropriate policy interventions.
Hon. Afful emphasized that the Committee's findings and recommendations will help strengthen public sector governance, improve policy implementation, enhance institutional performance, and promote greater accountability in the management of public resources.
According to him, the exercise ultimately seeks to support sustainable national development while reinforcing public confidence in Ghana's democratic institutions.
The Chairman expressed appreciation to the National Development Planning Commission for preparing the Annual Progress Report and commended the media for its indispensable role in informing the public and promoting transparency throughout the accountability process.
He also called on all stakeholders, including civil society organizations and development partners, to support the national accountability exercise to ensure its success.
Hon. Afful concluded by urging all stakeholders to work together to strengthen national institutions, deepen accountability, and build a more efficient, transparent, and responsive public sector that delivers meaningful results for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
