South African Group Threatens Retaliation Against Ghanaian Churches and Businesses
Durban — The leader of South African pressure group March and March, identified as Jacinta Ngobese, has reportedly threatened retaliatory action against Ghanaian-owned churches and businesses operating in South Africa amid rising tensions linked to xenophobic concerns.
Speaking at a press conference in Durban, Ngobese allegedly warned that any action taken against South African businesses by Ghanaians could trigger a response targeting Ghanaian establishments and churches in the country.
The remarks come at a time of growing anxiety among foreign nationals in South Africa following reports of renewed xenophobic threats and concerns over the safety of African migrants and business owners.
The situation has sparked discussions online, with many calling for calm, diplomacy, and stronger protection for foreign nationals and businesses operating across African countries.
Authorities in both Ghana and South Africa are yet to officially respond to the reported remarks.
