Breaking News: Cargo Plane Skids Off Runway, Crashes Into Sea at Hong Kong Airport
JHNews || What should have been a routine cargo landing at one of Asia’s busiest airports turned into a fatal crash and chilling chaos. Two ground staff died and a major freighter lies submerged while the investigation begins, the questions are many and the consequences could be far-reaching.

Hong Kong, 20 October 2025 — A cargo aircraft skidded off the north runway at Hong Kong International Airport, collided with a security patrol vehicle and plunged into the sea early Monday morning, resulting in the deaths of two airport security officers.
The aircraft, a Boeing 747‑400 freighter operated by ACT Airlines on behalf of Emirates SkyCargo, was arriving from Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport when the incident occurred around 3:50 a.m. local time.
The patrol car, located outside the airport fence and on a road adjacent to the runway, was struck by the aircraft after it veered off course. Both vehicles ended up submerged; the two security workers were rescued but pronounced dead—one at the scene and the other at hospital.
All four crew members aboard the aircraft survived with no serious injuries and were taken to hospital.
An investigation has been launched by the Air Accident Investigation Authority to determine the cause of the runway excursion, including possible technical failures, operational errors or external factors. Weather conditions at the time were reported to be normal.
