Famine Declared in Gaza as Over Half a Million Face Starvation

JHNews || Gaza, August 26, 2025 – Humanitarian agencies have declared famine in Gaza for the first time in the Middle East, with more than 500,000 people reported to be starving as the humanitarian crisis deepens.

According to aid groups, families are going days without food, while nearly two million children and pregnant women are at risk of life-threatening malnutrition. Food supplies have run critically low, crops have been destroyed, and access to clean water and medical care remains severely restricted.

The declaration underscores the urgency of calls for a ceasefire and unrestricted humanitarian aid to prevent further loss of life.

Humanitarian workers warn that the crisis has reached catastrophic levels, stressing that “every child and family deserves access to food, water, and medical care.”

International pressure is mounting on all parties to allow safe corridors for aid delivery, as relief organizations struggle to meet the overwhelming need.
