Dr. Mattew Opoku Prempeh (Napo) Denies Allegations of Bribery Plot to Disrupt Power Supply
Accra — Dr Mattew Opoku Prempeh has strongly denied allegations circulating on social media that he, together with other party MPs in the Ashanti Region, paid officials of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to deliberately disrupt power supply.
In a statement, the Dr Prempeh described the claims as “false, malicious, and without any basis in fact,” dismissing the allegations as deliberate misinformation.
He expressed concern over the potential consequences of the claims, noting that such narratives could expose ECG engineers and officials to public anger, intimidation, and possible harm.
Dr Mattew Prempeh further disclosed that he has instructed his lawyers to initiate legal action against the media outlet and presenter responsible for the claims, demanding that they provide credible evidence or face legal consequences.
He also criticised what he described as attempts to politicise ongoing challenges in the power sector, urging stakeholders to focus on practical solutions rather than spreading unverified allegations.
The statement comes amid heightened public concern over power supply issues, with calls for transparency and accountability in addressing the situation.
