GoldBod Records Milestone as Damang Gold Mines Sells Entire Gold Output to Board
Accra — The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has recorded another significant milestone in Ghana’s mining sector after Damang Gold Mines Limited sold 100 percent of its latest gold output to the Board at the GoldBod Assay Centre at the Accra International Airport.
The transaction involved 121 kilograms of gold, a move expected to strengthen efforts aimed at retaining greater value from Ghana’s mineral resources for the benefit of the national economy.
Receiving the consignment on behalf of GoldBod, Michael Arko, Director for Technical Affairs, commended the management of Damang Gold Mines and Chairman Ibrahim Mahama for their continued confidence in the Board and its mandate.
Officials of Damang Gold Mines also reaffirmed their commitment to supplying all future gold output to GoldBod, describing the collaboration as a demonstration of the economic benefits Ghana can derive from stronger local participation in the mining industry.
The development forms part of GoldBod’s broader strategy to promote transparency, strengthen value retention, and build a more structured and sustainable gold trading system in Ghana.
