MTN Ghana to Introduce 0.75% Fee on MoMo-to-Bank Transfers from June 1

Accra — MTN Ghana is expected to begin charging a 0.75% transaction fee on Mobile Money (MoMo)-to-bank transfers from June 1, 2026, according to reports. The adjustment will affect customers transferring funds from their MoMo wallets directly into bank accounts.

The reported change is expected to impact users who frequently rely on MoMo-to-bank transactions for business and personal transfers, potentially increasing transaction costs depending on the amount transferred. Existing MoMo bank transfer charges already vary based on transaction amounts and account arrangements.

The development has generated public discussion, especially after the earlier removal of the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), with many customers expressing concerns about the cost of digital financial transactions.

Further clarification from MTN Ghana on the implementation details and any exemptions is expected.
