The agreement, finalized in Bogotá, is aimed at enhancing trade between Africa and Latin America by creating a more efficient shipping route between the two regions.

Officials say the new arrangement will reduce transit time and logistics costs by minimizing the need for multiple transshipment points, while also improving access to new markets for businesses in both countries.

Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, described the agreement as a significant milestone in strengthening economic cooperation and deepening ties between the two nations.

The initiative is expected to position Ghana as a key trade hub in West Africa, while offering Colombia expanded access to African markets.

Authorities in both countries have expressed optimism that the partnership will drive increased trade volumes, investment opportunities, and growth in the shipping and logistics sectors.
