Addressing the House, Mr. Speaker, “we need to know the ministerial actions being taken by the minister responsible for government communications in respect of GBC and how he is taking steps to protect the assets of GBC, including adding value to GBC assets.”

He faulted the excuse that GBC lacks resources, saying the Corporation “sits on very valuable assets” yet “we are allowing encroachment.”

Hon. Afenyo-Markin also criticized the government’s use of press conferences for constitutional matters. “Parliament demands ministerial statements, not press conferences. If there is any important matter such as the resignation of the former Chief Justice from the Council of State, we don’t expect the government’s communications minister to use a press conference. He should come and brief Parliament. These are constitutional matters,” he said.
