RISEGhana Hosts Regional Intergenerational Mentorship Program to Empower Women in Governance

RISE Ghana has launched a pivotal regional intergenerational mentorship program aimed at increasing women's representation in governance through the initiative titled "Heard Everywhere and Represented Daily" (HEARD). This program specifically targets the Upper East Region, particularly Bolgatanga, and seeks to inspire and guide young women in their educational and career choices, emphasizing the importance of informed decision-making in their academic pursuits and future careers.

The mentorship program is designed to help young women select appropriate fields of study and career paths that align with their aspirations. Participants are encouraged to engage in thoughtful discussions about various academic disciplines, enabling them to make informed choices about their majors and future careers.

A key objective of this initiative is to promote the voice, participation, and inclusion of rural vulnerable youth and women in Ghana's governance processes. By empowering these groups, RISE Ghana aims to ensure that their perspectives are considered in decision-making, ultimately leading to more equitable and representative governance.

Notable speaker Mad Bride Apania addressed the attendees, highlighting the significance of positive attitudes in daily interactions. She expressed concern over the alarming level of indiscipline observed in senior high schools, describing it as disheartening. Apania emphasized that students must prepare adequately for their tertiary education by conducting thorough research on the job market related to their desired courses.

"Understanding the job market is essential for students to align their educational choices with viable career opportunities," Apania stated. She urged the young women in attendance to take their education seriously and to actively seek mentorship and guidance.

This mentorship program serves as a vital platform for fostering connections between seasoned professionals and aspiring young women leaders. By bridging the gap between generations, the initiative aims to equip participants with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to pursue leadership roles in governance and beyond.

RISE Ghana's commitment to empowering women through education and mentorship stands as a beacon of hope for the region, fostering a new generation of female leaders ready to make impactful contributions to society.

As the program unfolds, RISE Ghana looks forward to seeing positive outcomes and increased participation of women in governance, paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable society in the Upper East Region. This initiative not only addresses current educational challenges but also lays the groundwork for a brighter future for young women in Bolgatanga and beyond.
