The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has credited US$365 million to the Bank of Ghana (BoG) following the successful completion of the fifth review of Ghana’s economic programme under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF).

The disbursement follows approval by the IMF Executive Board on December 17, 2025, in Washington, DC. With this latest tranche, Ghana’s total receipts under the IMF-supported programme have reached approximately US$2.8 billion since the agreement was signed on May 17, 2023.

Market analysts indicate that the inflow will provide additional fiscal space for the government, particularly to support projects outlined in the 2025 Budget. Under the programme’s framework, the funds are intended to aid budget execution while also strengthening Ghana’s external buffers.

The IMF programme remains central to Ghana’s efforts to stabilise the economy, restore investor confidence, and sustain macroeconomic reforms.
