The Minority Caucus says the leadership of NaCCA failed in its oversight responsibility as government attempts to introduce LGBT activities into the SHS curriculum.

Speaking to journalists in parliament on Thursday, January 15, 2026, the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, said NaCCA’s leadership had violated public trust by allowing the material to appear in approved teaching resources.
Therefore they are calling for a withdrawal of all teaching and learning materials containing such contents amongst other demands.

This call by the caucus is backed by what they believe is failure in oversight and the breach of public trust.
The call follows claims by the MP for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, who alleged that the government was promoting an LGBTQ agenda through teacher manuals and other learning materials used in schools.

Amid public backlash, NaCCA withdrew the printed copies of the Year Two Physical Education and Health (Elective) Teacher Manual, admitting that parts of the content did not reflect Ghanaian culture, values, and social norms.
NaCCA has since issued a revised version of the manual, which it says aligns with national values and presents a biological understanding of the topic.

The Minority side of the House further stated the need for an extensive parliamentary inquiry by the appropriate committee of the House to examine the development, approval, funding and circulation of the curriculum, including the role played by external partners.

They again called on all Christian and Muslim religious leaders to add their voices and ensure the right thing is done in our schools.

They also quizzes the current NDC administration on why there is a delayed passage of anti-LGBTQ Bill.
