Late Ayawaso East MP’s Wife Declares Intention to Contest By-Election
Accra, Ghana — January 22, 2026:
The wife of the late Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East has officially declared her intention to contest the upcoming by-election in the constituency.
In a statement released on Thursday, the widow said she would seek the ticket of her late husband’s political party, expressing her desire to continue his legacy of service to the people of Ayawaso East. She emphasised her commitment to the welfare of residents and pledged to focus on inclusive development, youth empowerment, and improved social services if elected.
Her announcement comes ahead of the scheduled by-election, which was called following the unfortunate passing of the sitting MP. Political watchers say her entry into the race could shape the dynamics of the contest, given her familiarity with constituency issues and community goodwill.
