NPP Race: Tobbin Declares 100% Anyaa Sowutuom Support for JFK

Accra, August 11, 2026 — Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, Emmanuel Tobbin, has declared that constituency executives have agreed to give 100 per cent of their votes to Justin Kodua Frimpong (JFK) in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) national executive elections.

Mr Tobbin made the declaration during Justin Kodua’s campaign tour at Weija-Gbawe, where he endorsed the incumbent NPP General Secretary’s bid to retain his position. (Asaase Radio⁠)

According to the Anyaa Sowutuom MP, he has consulted and built consensus among constituency executives, with the decision to support Mr Kodua based largely on what he described as the candidate’s humility, emotional intelligence and ability to build consensus.

“I have built consensus with my executives, and we have all seen the need to retain JFK. I am therefore declaring 100 percent votes for JFK in Anyaa Sowutuom,” Mr Tobbin said. (Asaase Radio⁠)

Tobbin praises Kodua’s leadership

Mr Tobbin argued that the NPP needs a leader who can listen to different viewpoints, understand competing interests and bring members together as the party works to rebuild following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.

He described Justin Kodua’s leadership approach as one centred on consultation and consensus rather than confrontation, qualities he believes will be crucial as the party reorganises its structures and prepares for the 2028 elections.

The MP also praised Kodua for his contribution to the NPP’s Parliamentary Caucus, saying his coordination and support had strengthened the work of the party’s MPs.

Call for support

Mr Tobbin further appealed to delegates in Weija-Gbawe and Domeabra-Obom to support Justin Kodua, arguing that the NPP needs experienced and conciliatory leadership to strengthen its internal structures and improve its chances of returning to government in 2028.

The endorsement comes as Justin Kodua intensifies his campaign to retain the position of NPP General Secretary in the party’s upcoming national executive elections.

The latest declaration is also significant because it indicates that the incumbent General Secretary is securing support from constituency-level leadership as the contest gathers momentum.
