Addressing journalists in Parliament, Ranking Member on the Youth and Sports Committee Hon. Vincent Ekow Assafuah announced the demand following President John Dramani Mahama’s directive for NSA Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah to step aside during an ongoing police investigation.

The Minority has also  alleged that individuals were charged between $7,000 and $14,000 for visa processing arrangements linked to Ghana's involvement in the  2026 FIFA World Cup.
They have also raised questions directed at the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) regarding these payments and the involvement of non-employees—specifically identified as individuals named Chase and Diesel—in facilitating the visa arrangements.
Hon. Assafuah further stated that there is also the need for an official probe and clear answers from the Ghana Tourism Authority regarding how private or non-staff individuals managed the visa process and where the funds went.

Concerns have also been raised regarding TRIBE Culture Fest and expanded submission lists, as well as reports that individuals linked to officials failed to return to Ghana after traveling under sponsored packages.

The Minority insists that administrative suspension is insufficient and calls for a wide-ranging criminal probe into all involved entities.
