2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers: Otto Addo eyeing a strong comeback against Niger

Ghana’s Black Stars are gearing up for a crucial clash against Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with head coach Otto Addo determined to guide the team to victory after a disappointing 1-0 loss to Angola.

The squad trained intensively yesterday at the Berkane Football Academy, finalizing preparations for the upcoming encounter.

However, the team’s ranks were trimmed to 22 players following the withdrawal of Istanbul Basaksehir defender Jerome Opoku, who sustained an injury on Saturday.

Additionally, winger Joseph Paintsil, currently with Los Angeles Galaxy in Major League Soccer, was left behind in Accra to resolve passport issues, leaving him unavailable for selection.

Despite the reduced squad, Addo remains optimistic about Ghana’s chances and is focused on securing a strong comeback.

The match is set to take place at the Municipal Sports Complex in Berkane, and the Black Stars will be eager to bounce back and keep their qualification hopes alive.
