2025 BUDGET: PRESIDENT MAHAMA IS 'A TALK AND DO PRESIDENT'- MAHAMA AYARIGA HAILS

The 2025 budget statement debate officially concluded yesterday March 25, 2025 following remarks from both majority and minority leaders.
Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga on his part hailed President John Dramani Mahama as a talk to do President who delivers on his promises and has done so through his finance minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson in this 2025 budget statement.
Hon. Ayariga further explained that the current government NDC promised to abolish e-levy and all other 'nuisance' taxes and he has delivered. He continued that the wisdom relied on to craft the 2025 budget is unparalleled.
"I hear them say that we haven't invested enough into agriculture for economic development. But agriculture is one of the key factor areas in the "big push" resource." he further added.
"If you look at the budget, it promises to tackle our big ticket items such the establishment of goldbod to stabilise the Cedi; a high inflation regime and cost of borrowing don't help the private sector's ability to create jobs." the leader of government business revealed.
The majority leader of Ghana's parliament further emphasized that to curb and eradicate corruption, where there is criminal mismanagement of the economy, there must be prosecutions.
As you can't just come here and cry that there are prosecutions.
"In 2018, a certain finance minister went to the eurobond market to borrow to the tune of $2m, through 2021, but he walked away with GH¢9.7m in fees to his bank, talk about the criminal mismanagement of the economy." - Mahama Ayariga further revealed. We could have been lending money to the IMF, but because of the mismanagement of the economy, today we are borrowing $1 million from the IMF a year.
"This budget has been realistic. The modest growth of 4% predicted by the finance minister is realistic. The objective of the budget is clear, create a 24-hr economy; restore hope in public officials and stimulate demands for Made-in-Ghana goods and the road to a reset Ghana will be difficult but we will reset the country nonetheless." - he declared.
