The Patriotic Journalists Against Galamsey (Pajag) has announced its support for the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) in the ongoing battle against galamsey in Ghana. This collaboration marks a significant boost to the government's efforts to curb the destructive practice of illegal mining, which has ravaged the country's environment and natural resources.

NAIMOS, established in 2025, has been at the forefront of anti-galamsey operations, leveraging intelligence and coordination to clamp down on illegal mining activities nationwide. The secretariat's efforts have yielded impressive results, including the seizure of over 94 excavators, destruction of nearly 3,000 changfang machines, and arrest of 237 suspects.

Speaking on the partnership, Pajag's spokesperson emphasized the organization's commitment to supporting NAIMOS' mission. "We recognize the devastating impact of galamsey on our communities and environment. As journalists, we have witnessed firsthand the destruction caused by these illegal activities. We are proud to join forces with NAIMOS to ensure a galamsey-free Ghana."

NAIMOS' Executive Secretary, Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Emmanuel Okyere, welcomed Pajag's support, highlighting the crucial role the media plays in raising awareness about the dangers of galamsey. "The collaboration with Pajag will amplify our message and galvanize public support for our efforts. Together, we can protect Ghana's natural resources and secure a sustainable future for our people."

The fight against galamsey is ongoing, with NAIMOS intensifying its operations to safeguard Ghana's water bodies, forests, and communities. The public can report suspected galamsey activities to NAIMOS' hotline: 055 844 9888.
