Goalkeeper Appiah Kubi expresses delight after being named Medeama vice-captain
Medeama SC goalkeeper Appiah Kubi has expressed his excitement after being appointed as one of the captains of the Ghana Premier League side.
The 23-year-old, who joined the Yellow and Mauves in 2022, has been named the vice-captain of the former league champions.
In an interview with the club’s media, Kubi spoke of the honor and responsibility that comes with the role, acknowledging the groundwork laid by previous leaders.
"It’s actually an honour being the vice-captain of this great club. I think it’s a big task for us because of the work done by previous captains like Kwasi Donsu, Vincent Atinga, and others. As they have laid the foundation, we are hoping to continue," he stated.
Kubi played a key role in Medeama’s narrow win over Accra Lions in their season opener at the TNA Stadium last Sunday.
The Yellow and Mauves will now travel to face Legon Cities in matchday two of the Ghana Premier League, looking to build on their strong start.
