Ghana and Japan Sign $13.44M Deal to Boost Power Supply in Tamale

Tamale is set for a significant power infrastructure upgrade as Ghana and Japan have signed a $13.44 million grant agreement aimed at improving electricity supply in the city.
Under the partnership, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will support the construction of a new substation and power distribution lines, enhancing stability and efficiency in the region’s electricity network.
The agreement was officially signed by Ghana’s Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and JICA’s Chief Representative, Her Excellency Suzuki Momoko, marking another milestone in Ghana-Japan cooperation.
This initiative is expected to drive economic growth, create jobs, and improve living conditions in the Northern Region by ensuring businesses, households, and essential services have access to reliable electricity.
With Japan’s continued commitment to Ghana’s development, this project will contribute significantly to bridging the country’s energy gap and accelerating industrialization.
