Government Receives Delegation on Daddy Lumba’s Passing; One-Week Observation Set for August 30

JHNews ll Accra, August 25, 2025 – The Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah, has, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, received a delegation from the Parkoso Ekoɔna Ebusua, the Fosuh Family, and the Funeral Planning Committee of the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
The delegation formally informed the Presidency of the musician’s passing and outlined arrangements for the funeral rites. They confirmed that the One-Week Observation will take place on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Complex.
Daddy Lumba, celebrated for his decades-long contribution to Ghanaian music, is regarded as one of the most influential figures in highlife, with a career spanning over three decades. His passing has drawn tributes from across the nation and beyond, with many hailing him as a cultural icon whose songs defined generations.
The government is expected to play a role in the funeral arrangements, in recognition of his immense contribution to Ghana’s arts and culture.
