Mass Termination of Ghana School Feeding Coordinators as NDC Administration Reshuffles Appointments
Accra, March 4, 2025 – In a sweeping move under the administration of President John Mahama, the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection has terminated the contracts of all Regional and Zonal Coordinators of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) with immediate effect.
A letter signed by the sector Minister, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, directed all affected officials to report to the GSFP Secretariat for their individual termination letters and handover procedures.
The decision is seen as part of the broader restructuring efforts by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, which continues to reshuffle key appointments across various state agencies. Since assuming office, the Mahama administration has been making strategic changes, citing the need for efficiency and accountability in government programs.
While the government has yet to announce replacements for the dismissed coordinators, sources indicate that new appointments are expected soon as part of the administration’s vision to improve the school feeding initiative.
The termination has sparked reactions among stakeholders, with some welcoming the move as necessary for reforms, while others argue it disrupts the continuity of the program. The Ghana School Feeding Programme plays a critical role in providing meals to schoolchildren across the country, and observers are keen to see how the government manages the transition.
