In a public notice dated February 8, 2026, the OSP disclosed that it began investigations into the NPP presidential primaries held on January 31, 2026. Subsequently, on February 7, 2026, it launched a real-time investigation into the NDC parliamentary primaries at the Ayawaso East Constituency.

According to the OSP, the investigations are focused on allegations of vote buying, vote selling, and the sources of funding behind the alleged corrupt acts.

The statement further alleged that during the NDC parliamentary primaries in Ayawaso East, a candidate — Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed — allegedly abetted individuals to physically attack an authorised officer of the OSP. The officer was reportedly serving an investigative directive in relation to alleged vote-buying and vote-selling activities at the time of the incident.

As a result, the OSP has opened a separate investigation into the alleged assault of its officer while performing official duties.

The Office reminded the public that the law strictly prohibits corrupt acts in public elections, stressing that vote buying, vote selling, intimidation, threats of violence, and acts of violence constitute serious criminal offences.

The OSP reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring accountability and integrity in Ghana’s electoral processes.
