Accra, October 6, 2025 — The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has indefinitely postponed the resumption of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
Originally set to reconvene on October 14, 2025, the parliamentary session has now been deferred “until further notice,” according to an official statement issued from the Speaker’s office on Monday. The notice cited “circumstances beyond my control” as the reason for the postponement, but no further details were provided.
The indefinite suspension delays the House’s agenda for the month, which was expected to include critical deliberations on pending bills and the much-anticipated presentation of the 2026 Budget and Economic Policy.
Observers say the development could disrupt parliamentary timelines and stall key government business, raising questions about the nature of the “circumstances” that prompted the deferral.
