MIRACLE ABOAGYE’S ARREST: AG ASKED TO APPEAR BEFORE PARLIAMENT OVER THE ACTIVITIES OF EOCO - MINORITY LEADER
The Minority Leader Osahene Alexander Afenyo-Markin has stressed the need for Attorney General (AG) to appear before Parliament and answer questions over the activities of Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
Speaking on the floor of Parliament in connection with Arrest of Miracle Dennis Edward Aboagye former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), over alleged financial and procurement irregularities involving about GH¢55 million in public funds.
However, Miracle Aboagye has been granted bail with GHC 50 million with three sureties.
Afenyo-Markin added that, the table can turn so there is the need to address the issue at hand with serious attention. “We are not against accountability but the “Rambow” style EOCO used to arrest Miracle Aboagye is condemnable”. He said.
The Effutu Legislator added that, what happened to Miracle Aboagye is not good for Ghana’s democracy.
Afenyo-Markin disclosed that, Miracle Aboagye was already traumatized due to the recent flooding as he lost so many things in his household in Accra and “now EOCO has added more soar to the injury it is not fair on the part of the government”. He said.
