50 Arrested in Anti-Drug Operation at Madina Market
Accra — Security agencies have arrested at least 50 individuals during a major anti-drug operation at the Madina Market in the Greater Accra Region.
The operation, carried out by a joint security task force, targeted suspected drug peddlers and users within the busy commercial area, which is known as one of the largest and most active markets in Accra.
According to reports, the swoop forms part of intensified efforts by authorities to clamp down on illegal drug activities and restore order in key public spaces.
Items believed to be narcotic substances were reportedly retrieved during the exercise, while suspects are currently assisting police with investigations.
Authorities say the operation is one of several planned interventions aimed at tackling drug-related crimes and improving safety within markets and densely populated areas.
Further updates are expected as investigations continue and suspects are processed for court.
