Government Communications Minister calls for equal pay as Black Queens end bonus boycott

Government Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu has urged for equal pay for male and female athletes, praising the Black Queens for ending their bonus boycott.

The team had refused to train for two days over delayed payments from the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, with each player reportedly owed $9,500 for their bronze-winning campaign. However, recent updates suggest the amount owed is around $7,500 per player for participating in qualification matches for major tournaments.

The Ghana Football Association has assured payment of the outstanding bonuses, with players receiving cheques. Nevertheless, media personality Nana Aba Anamoah cautioned against premature celebrations, emphasizing that the matter isn't settled until the money reflects in the players' accounts
