Happy to be back – Inaki Williams shares excitement after Black Stars return

Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams has shared his excitement after making a return to the Black Stars ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.

The former Spain international is back after missing a couple of games including the 2026 World Cup qualifications games against Mali and Central Africa Republic in June.

He was absent when the Black Stars engaged Nigeria and Uganda in an international friendlies in March due to injuries.


Williams has not featured for the Black Stars since AFCON 2023 tournament in Ivory Coast, where Ghana bowed out at group stage.

Responding to a post on Black Stars official page on X, formerly known as Twitter, Williams said, "Happy to be back"

The forward has joined his Black Stars teammate in camp ahead of their trip to Kumasi on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old striker made his debut for Ghana in September 2022 and since made 17 appearances for the West Africa powerhouse, scoring just a goal in the proces.

Ghana will take on the Palancas Negras of Angola in the opening 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, on Thursday September 5, 2024, before traveling to Berkane, Morocco, to take on Niger on Monday, September 9, 2024.
