I wouldn’t have scored two goals against PEC Zwolle without my teammates – Ibrahim Sadiq
Ghana winger Ibrahim Sadiq has chosen to remain humble, crediting his teammates for his standout performance in AZ Alkmaar's 2-1 victory over PEC Zwolle on Friday night.
The 24-year-old scored twice in the match week six clash at MAC³PARK Stadion, netting the opening goal just six minutes into the game and doubling the lead five minutes after halftime.
Although Dylan Vente pulled one back for PEC Zwolle in the 66th minute, AZ held on for the win.
Speaking to the club after the game, ““I think it's really important to have some of the guys with you and everyone around. So, I believe I will say "we," and my teammates helped me a lot to have moments like this.”
Sadiq faced significant challenges early in his Dutch league career, struggling with injuries that hampered his form.
He was sidelined for over a month due to two injuries in December 2023 and February 2024, making for a difficult return. Last season, he featured in just 16 league matches and scored only two goals.
However, Sadiq has made a strong comeback this season, already tallying four goals and providing three assists in just six games.
