OBUASI, October 20, 2026 — The headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS), Zakaria Abdulai, has been arrested over sexual misconduct allegations, Interior Minister Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka has disclosed.

The arrest follows allegations involving female students at the school, which had earlier led to Abdulai’s suspension pending investigations.

According to a report by Citi Newsroom, the Interior Minister confirmed the arrest, marking a further development in the case.

Investigations ongoing

The allegations prompted the Ministry of Education to direct the Ghana Education Service (GES) to suspend the headmaster while the matter was investigated. Police are also expected to investigate the allegations.

The arrest does not, by itself, establish Abdulai’s guilt. The allegations remain subject to investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings.
