Police Arrest Suspect Over Alleged Threats Against President Mahama in Viral Videos

Accra — The Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) has arrested a suspect over alleged threats made against President John Dramani Mahama in videos that circulated on social media.

The suspect, identified by police as Mahama Aminat, also known as Akosua Serwaa Minat, was arrested over alleged offensive conduct and threats directed at the President.

According to police, the suspect was captured in videos posted on TikTok allegedly making insulting remarks against the President, issuing threats against his life, and encouraging others to target both the President and his wife.

Police said following the circulation of the videos, a joint operation involving the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) and the Surveillance Unit of the National Operations Department led to the suspect’s arrest on May 20, 2026, at Sekyere Zongo in the Sekyere Kumawu District of the Ashanti Region.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be arraigned before court as investigations continue.
