REJOINDER: John Boadu’s V8 seized is not a “stolen” car Aide refutes claim

Accra — A recent report alleging that a V8 Toyota Land Cruiser belonging to former NPP General Secretary, Mr. John Boadu, has been seized by National Security over suspicions of wrongful acquisition has been strongly refuted by his camp.

In a sharp rebuttal issued by Mr. Emmanuel Aniagyei, an aide to the former party executive, the report was described as “misleading and politically motivated,” aimed at tarnishing the image of a man whose integrity, he insists, is beyond reproach.

According to Aniagyei, the vehicle in question — a 2015-registered Toyota Land Cruiser — was legally acquired through a vehicle swap between Mr. Boadu and one Mr. Agyekum in the same year. Mr. Boadu reportedly exchanged his Toyota Hilux for the Land Cruiser, and has since maintained rightful ownership of the vehicle, years before the NPP assumed power in 2017.

The aide also drew a link between the publication and Mr. Boadu’s recent public criticism of the government, following the controversial arrest of a party member over a Facebook post. Mr. Boadu not only denounced the arrest, Aniagyei said, but personally intervened to secure the individual’s release.

“This so-called seizure is nothing short of political retaliation,” Aniagyei stated, hinting at possible legal action against those behind what he described as a smear campaign.

He further stressed that Mr. Boadu has never been associated with the misappropriation of state assets and remains a figure of integrity in public service.

The statement concluded with a call on the media and public to disregard the original report, describing it as a calculated attempt to silence dissent within party ranks.
