NAIMOS DELIVERS TWIN STRIKES ALONG THE OFFIN RIVER AS INTELLIGENCE-LED OPERATIONS NET NINETEEN ARRESTS AND DOZENS OF SEIZED EQUIPMENT
Two days of swift, intelligence-driven operations along the Offin River saw the NAIMOS taskforce based at Manso Adubia mount two separate but decisive interventions that resulted in the arrest of nineteen illegal miners, the seizure of twenty motorbikes, multiple water pumping machines, and other mining equipment — delivering a firm message that the Offin River is no longer open territory for galamsey operators.
Nineteen (19) arrested at Droso as NAIMOS Acts on NADMO Intelligence
On 12 April 2026, between 1400 and 1700 hours, the NAIMOS team at Manso Adubia received actionable intelligence from the Secretariat’s sources at Amansie South, reporting active illegal mining operations ongoing at *Droso* on the Offin River. The taskforce responded immediately, departing their location and proceeding swiftly to the scene.
Upon arrival, the team observed illegal mining activities in close proximity to the Offin River, with mining machines actively deployed on and along the water body.
Moving decisively, the NAIMOS taskforce apprehended nineteen (19) illegal miners at the scene, comprising both male and female individuals between the ages of 23 and 35 years. A number of other miners fled the scene on sighting the approaching personnel but the bulk of those present were secured without incident.
Equipment seized during the operation included eight (8) water pumping machines, five (5) motorbikes, one (1) excavator monitor, and one (1) excavator key.
Fifteen (15) Motorbikes Seized at Eniamoah as NAIMOS Uncovers Massive Offin River Mining Operation
On 13 April 2026, in a second operation conducted between 1120 and 1730 hours, the same NAIMOS team departed their base at Manso Adubia on a patrol towards Eniamoah, a town in the vicinity of Ntoboroso, acting on intelligence regarding illegal mining activity on the Offin River.
Again, upon reaching the riverside, the taskforce observed massive illegal mining operations actively underway on the Offin River.
Upon sighting the approaching NAIMOS personnel, the miners immediately abandoned their activities and fled into the surrounding area. The taskforce proceeded to seize fifteen (15) motorbikes found along the river body, belonging to the fleeing illegal miners.
The scale of operations observed at Eniamoah, combined with the volume of equipment encountered, reflects the extent to which the Offin River in this locality has become a zone of concentrated illegal mining activity.
NAIMOS has accordingly indicated that the Blue Water Guards will be further tasked to intensify patrol operations along the Offin River within the Eniamoah and Ntoboroso township areas, with a view to sustaining pressure on illegal mining networks and ensuring the permanent exclusion of galamsey operators from the waterway.
Taken together, the two operations represent significant operational days for the Manso Adubia-based NAIMOS taskforce and demonstrate the value of inter-agency intelligence sharing in accelerating enforcement response.
The NAIMOS Secretariat reaffirms its commitment to sustaining and intensifying its presence along the Offin River until illegal mining activity on the waterway is comprehensively eliminated.
