Gov’t Delegation Visits Bereaved Families of Military Recruitment Stampede Victims
JHNews || The Defence Ministry has since suspended all ongoing recruitment activities nationwide pending a comprehensive review of safety protocols to prevent a repeat of the tragedy.
Accra, November 14, 2025 — A government delegation led by the Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon. Ernest Brogya Genfi, has paid a visit to the bereaved families of victims who lost their lives during the military recruitment stampede that occurred on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
The visit formed part of the government’s efforts to commiserate with the affected families and assure them of a full investigation into the circumstances leading to the tragic incident.
Hon. Brogya Genfi, speaking on behalf of the Minister for Defence, expressed deep condolences and promised that the government would support the families and ensure proper accountability.
The delegation also included officials from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and local authorities who pledged to assist in funeral arrangements and psychological support for the victims’ relatives.
Preliminary reports suggest that overcrowding and inadequate crowd control measures contributed to the deadly stampede during the recruitment exercise.
