Taxi Driver Robbed at Knifepoint in Ejisu as Suspect Crashes Stolen Vehicle Into Crowd
A suspected robber has been arrested at Ejisu after allegedly stealing a taxi from a driver at knifepoint

Ejisu, Ashanti Region — August 23, 2026 — A young man has reportedly been arrested after allegedly robbing a taxi driver at knifepoint and escaping in the driver’s vehicle at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.
According to preliminary reports, the suspect allegedly attacked the taxi driver, threatened him with a knife and took control of the vehicle before speeding away.
However, the attempted escape reportedly ended shortly afterwards when the suspect lost control of the stolen taxi and crashed into a crowd, allegedly hitting several people.
The incident reportedly drew the attention of residents, who quickly moved in and apprehended the suspect.
Personnel from the Ejisu Police Station subsequently arrived at the scene and took the suspect into custody.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged robbery, the crash and the condition of those reportedly struck by the vehicle are yet to be fully established.
Police are expected to investigate the incident, including the alleged robbery and the circumstances that led to the suspect losing control of the vehicle.
