Petroleum Prices Set to Rise Significantly from September 16 — COMAC/COPEC
JHNews || From Tuesday, September 16, Ghanaians will see notable increases in petrol, diesel, and LPG prices due largely to the depreciation of the cedi. Even with falling international oil prices, foreign-exchange pressures are pushing up local pump prices.

Accra, September 15, 2025 — Motorists and households in Ghana will face higher petroleum product prices starting Tuesday, September 16, according to outlooks from the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) and the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC).
Here are the projections:
Product |
Expected Price Change |
New Pump Price |
Petrol |
+3.66 % to +5.86 % |
~ GHS 14.17 per litre |
Diesel |
+2.12 % to +4.32 % |
~ GHS 14.67 per litre |
LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) |
+2.23 % to +4.23 % |
~ GHS 14.00 per kilogram  |
What’s Behind the Jump
- The Ghanaian cedi has weakened notably against the US dollar, falling from GHS 11.20 to GHS 12.07 in the recent pricing window.
- This depreciation has more than offset modest declines in global petroleum prices. Though crude oil and finished products saw small drops internationally, the loss of value in the cedi means higher import costs, which gets passed onto consumers.
