Ghana Cedi Expected to Stabilize This Week; One Dollar to Trade at GH¢13.60
JHNews || The cedi is expected to experience modest stabilization this week, trading at about GH¢13.60 per USD in bureaus, thanks largely to support from a recent World Bank loan and easing global monetary pressures. However, recent depreciation in both interbank and retail markets shows the currency remains under stress.

Accra, September 15, 2025 — The Ghanaian cedi is projected to show modest stability against the US dollar this week, trading around GH¢13.60 per dollar at forex bureaus, after a period of sustained depreciation.
This outlook is being buoyed by positive market sentiment following the World Bank’s concessional loan of US$360 million to Ghana, which is expected to support foreign exchange supply and strengthen investor confidence.
Analysts also point to recent weaker labor market data in the US, which may prompt a cautious interest rate cut. They say this could help reduce upward pressure on the dollar and give the cedi a breathing space.
Over the past two weeks, the cedi has lost value in both the interbank and retail markets:
- On the interbank market, the rate slipped from GH¢11.40 to about GH¢12.15 per dollar.
- At the retail/forex bureaus, it depreciated to around GH¢13.40, with continued losses to the pound and the euro.
