Pokuase Central Market Commissions Four Boreholes to Combat Water Crisis

Pokuase, Ghana – In a significant development aimed at addressing the ongoing water shortage in the Pokuase area, the Pokuase Central Market Commission today inaugurated four new boreholes at different strategic locations across the community.

The commissioning ceremony began at the Pokuase Market and proceeded to the remaining three sites where the boreholes have been installed. These new water facilities are part of a broader initiative to improve water access for residents and market vendors alike.

Speaking to JHNews at the event, Mr. Yeboah, Chairman of the Pokuase Central Market, emphasized the importance of water to the community, stating, “Water is life.” He credited Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, for initiating the project under the allocation of 30 boreholes for the TROBU constituency. “This project will ease the burden on the entire Pokuase community,” Mr. Yeboah said, he is pledging to continue advocating for further development.

He extended his gratitude to key supporters of the initiative:

  1. Hon. Gloria Owusu – MP for TROBU Constituency
  2. Hon. Gad Yeboah – Former Assembly Member
  3. Lawyer Herbert Krapa – Former Energy Minister
  4. Hon. Kwame Denkyi – 1st Vice Chairman, TROBU Constituency

Benjamin Attuah, Unit Committee Member for the Pokuase Electoral Area and one of the project organizers, provided a brief history of the community’s long-standing water challenges. “These boreholes are a solution to our suffering,” he said, urging residents to protect and maintain the new infrastructure.

Elder Kofi Mensah, General Secretary of the Pokuase Youth Association, also addressed the gathering. He assured the community of the youth’s commitment to safeguarding the boreholes and urged residents not to politicize the project. “This is for all of us, regardless of who made it happen,” he stressed.

The community expressed deep appreciation and joy at the development, with many residents calling for more initiatives of this nature to support their basic needs.
