Health Minister Donates $1.5 Million in Equipment to Ga North Municipal Hospital
Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has donated over $1.5 million worth of medical equipment to Ga North Municipal Hospital to bolster healthcare delivery and urged proper maintenance of the new machines

JHNews || Accra, September 2025 — Minister for Health Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has presented medical equipment valued at $1.5 million to the Ga North Municipal Hospital, underscoring the government’s commitment to strengthening existing health facilities.
The donation follows a surprise inspection in which the minister discovered that the hospital was operating without several critical resources.
More than 30 essential items were handed over, including anesthesia machines, incubators, nebulizers, ECG machines, a stem sterilizer, stethoscopes, hospital beds, delivery sets, and ward screens.
Hon. Akandoh described the equipment as a capital investment, urging hospital authorities to maintain the machines properly and ensure their effective use. “Healthcare delivery relies on infrastructure, personnel, and equipment. It is unwise to let existing facilities deteriorate while focusing only on new construction,” he said.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Victor Caesar expressed gratitude on behalf of staff and patients, noting that the arrival of long-needed anesthesia machines will significantly improve surgical services. He pledged that the hospital will carefully maintain and maximize the new resources.
