NPA Deputy CEO Dr Dramani Bukari Ecomog Dies in London

Accra, August 11, 2026 — The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr Dramani Bukari Ecomog, has reportedly died in London after a short illness.

News of his sudden death emerged on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, with sources within the NPA confirming the development. MyJoyOnline also reported that the NPA had confirmed the death.

Dr Bukari was an energy and climate policy expert with extensive experience spanning sustainable energy, petroleum policy, entrepreneurship, research and development.

Before joining the NPA, he served as Director of Entrepreneurship, Partnerships and Investments at the Ghana Climate Innovation Centre. He held a PhD in Sustainable Energy Technologies and had more than 16 years of professional experience in energy and climate related fields.

At the NPA, Dr Bukari served as Deputy Chief Executive, contributing to discussions and policies relating to Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.

His professional career also saw him participate actively in national conversations on energy policy, petroleum pricing, sustainable energy and public sector reforms.

News of his death has triggered an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, government officials and members of the governing National Democratic Congress, with many expressing shock over his sudden passing.
