Weija Residents Hit by Water Shutdown Following Mainline Break
JHNews || A major mainline break has forced a water shutdown in Weija and surrounding areas, cutting tap supply while repair works are ongoing. Residents have been urged to bear with the utility provider as crews work to restore service.
Accra, Ghana — Water supply to communities in and around Weija has been disrupted after a major mainline break in the area, the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has confirmed.
According to reports, the break occurred on a key pipeline supplying the Weija enclave and surrounding districts. As a result, water distribution has been temporarily suspended to allow technicians to carry out urgent repairs and maintenance works.
Affected areas include parts of Weija, Weija Gbawe, and neighbouring communities, leaving residents without access to tap water for the time being. The GWCL has assured the public that efforts are underway to restore normal water flow as quickly as possible.
Residents have voiced frustration over the interruption, especially as many depend on regular supply for domestic use and livelihoods.
Authorities are monitoring the situation and have appealed for patience as work continues on fixing the damaged infrastructure.
