Mahama's main contender, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), garnered 4,657,304 votes, accounting for 41.61% of the total votes. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) also made significant gains in the parliamentary elections, securing a commanding number of seats.
The 2024 presidential election saw a remarkable voter turnout of 60.9%, with both the NDC and NPP rallying strong support across the country.
